YOUR DREAM OPPORTUNITY

We have an exceptional opportunity for either a Part time or Full time General Counsel to join our Melbourne Head Office as a key member of our Finance, Legal and Risk function. In this influential role, you’ll act as both strategic advisor and legal leader- Partnering with our Executive and Board to ensure Forever New’s global operations are legally sound, ethically governed, and future-ready.

You’ll bring legal expertise and commercial savvy to help drive outcomes across a wide range of areas including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, employment law, and sustainability. This is a career-defining opportunity for a senior legal leader with a passion for business, fashion and making a meaningful impact.

Get excited to:

  • Provide expert legal advice across corporate, commercial, employment, IP, and regulatory matters globally
  • Oversee drafting, negotiation and management of key contracts (e.g. suppliers, leases, partnerships)
  • Manage litigation and dispute resolution processes with external counsel
  • Ensure compliance with international trade, consumer protection and industry-specific regulations
  • Act as Company Secretary, supporting Board operations (agendas, minutes, meetings)
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and relevant legislation (e.g. Corporations Act 2001)
  • Maintain statutory registers and manage timely corporate filings
  • Advise Board and Executive on directors' duties, governance risks, and conflicts of interest
  • Develop and lead compliance frameworks to mitigate legal and regulatory risk
  • Monitor legislative changes and update policies accordingly
  • Deliver training to embed a culture of compliance and ethical conduct across the business
  • Advise on legal risks and opportunities relating to business initiatives, new markets, and product launches
  • Balance legal risk with commercial decision-making to support business outcomes
  • Lead legal support for M&A and corporate transactions, including due diligence and structuring advice

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU OFFER US

We’re looking for a pragmatic, commercially-minded legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work cross-functionally to drive impactful, legally sound outcomes.

  • Law degree and admission to practice law in Australia
  • 10+ years of legal experience, with 5+ in a senior in-house counsel role
  • Experience in retail or fashion industry strongly preferred
  • Previous Company Secretary experience desirable
  • Deep understanding of corporate governance, IP and employment law
  • Familiarity with sustainability and ethical sourcing frameworks
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues with clear, actionable advice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident stakeholder management, including Board and Executive
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Tech-savvy, with high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office
